Evernote
Description
Evernote is an app that works much like an online rolodex. It allows a user to collect and organize ‘notes’ across multiple devices. Notes can be user-created notes, pictures, to-do lists, and voice recordings. A user has the ability to tag each note. The notes are also searchable. To maintain organization, notes can be separated into notebooks. Notebooks can also be shared to individuals or with a ‘public link’.

Benefits
  • The app helps with organization by allowing the user to access their notebooks and notes across multiple devices, as long as their account is linked to that device.
  • Evernote can be paired with other apps to increase productivity. Clearly, a web browser app will allow a person to ‘clip’ vital information from a webpage, leaving behind web ads and links. The ‘clean’ web information can be saved straight into a linked Evernote account.
  • Evernote helps foster collaboration. The sharing capability allows users to share the information they have collected with others. Notebooks can simply be shared for viewing purposes.
  • Notes are searchable, including note content.

Constraints
  • Unless a user subscribes to the premium version with monthly fee, notes are not available offline.
  • Saving web content is easier to accomplish while utilizing Evernote on a computer as opposed to a mobile device.
  • Users must have a Premium Evernote account in order to edit shared notebooks.
  • All notes in a notebook are deleted if the notebook is deleted.
